As we are approaching the Houseboat Season in Alleppey and Kumarakom houseboat demands also picking up accordingly. In Kerala House Boat Season Travel starts from Oct 1st every year and it goes till end of March.

Apart from that this year salary and allowance to houseboat staffs revised after the recent strike in Kerala house boat industry.

These all lead to a hike in our tariff from October 1st week even though we have decided to keep it minimum to reduce burden on our customers as always we aim to give best rate in Alleppey and Kumarakom to our clients.

This is our new tariff from Oct 1st

Single bedroom house boats (2 pax)

Non A/c : Rs 6,000/- , A/c : Rs 7,000/-

Double bedroom house boats (4 pax)

Non A/c : Rs 8,000/- , A/c : Rs 9,000/-

Three bedroom house boats (6 pax)

Non A/c : Rs 11,000/- , A/c : Rs 12,000/-

If you are planning for a house boat travel in Alleppey or Kumarakom then here is some important info about Season and off season in boat house hiring and cruise.

House Boat demand is low normally from April 1st to Sep 30th… So you will get budget, normal and luxury non a/c and a/c boat house at best rates during this time.

But during onam season and nehru trophy boat race period demand picks up for a short period of time.

As said above season starts from Oct 1st and ends at March 31st. Again during this period boat house demand peaks during Christmas and New Year time as more foreigners reach Kerala during these time and they prefer to spend Christmas and New Year in houseboats.

So normally house boat rates will be double between Dec 15th and Jan 10th.

If you are giving more importance to your budget then better avoid this period especially on New Year Eve house boat hiring rates peak to imaginary rates.

Tourist from all over the world come to Alleppey mainly to enjoy the Boat House Cruise through the beautiful lakes and lagoons in and around Alleppey.

Boat House in Alleppey and Kumarakom or House Boats are large boats which were primarily used for transportation of goods when people of Alleppey used water ways for transportation and commutation.

Today there are around 500 boat house in Alleppey alone. Apart from this there are large number of houseboats in Kumarakom. There are some houseboats in Kollam, Trivandrum and Kochi too.

New rates for Aug 2010 houseboat cruise in Alleppey and Kumarakom. Rates are slightly increased compared to July because of Onam season and Nehru Trophy boat rate.

For day cruise we charge Rs 500 per head but a minimum of 10 people. (6 hours day cruise with lunch).

We can also arrange motorboat or shikara boat at Rs 300 per hour.
